During the past five years Hende Wayela has actively been involved in projects and research concerning the social and economic development of Mozambique. Research has been done in various spheres and is still an ongoing process. Alternative energy resources as well as sustainable agricultural programmes have been investigated and successfully launched and a variety of new project ventures have been identified. To date ZAR 20 Million has been invested in Infrastructure in Mozambique.
Although the most visible project of Hende Wayela is currently its involvement with Ecomoz, and therefore bio-diesel, Hende Wayela's interest in bio-diesel is simply that it is an anchor industry with the potential to provide people with sustainable incomes. Ecomoz was formed because an immediate need for bio-diesel exists. The Agricultural development is however geared to go way beyond the mere supply of coconut copra for bio-diesel - as soon as new industries become feasible, Hende Wayela will utilise all of the knowledge and experience it has gained so far to empower the communities that it developed to cater for these new industries and their opportunities.
Still, it remains vital that the people will be economically uplifted, secondly that Ecomoz will prosper and then the focus will shift to new industries. Why all of this will be possible is because Hende Wayela's approach is dynamic and hands-on. The streamlined management structure of the company means decisions can be made and executed extremely fast. This allows management the opportunity to adapt operational and implementation strategies on the ground without lengthy time delays. The biggest success story so far of Hende Wayela and its approach is the implementation of the triple trend program
