The Hende Mozambique Project is a broad-based collaboration in Mozambique that focuses on the production of vegetable oil which is, amongst other things, used in the production of biodiesel.

Through the fusion of corporate interests and truly sustainable development needs in this project, many opportunities arise – both for lucrative businesses and for true development. Hende Wayela ensures that both are attained.

To ensure the long-term viability of the project, Hende Wayela actively engages in a significant amount of social and economic development. To read more about this or to become a part of it, follow this link.

  • Establishment of collection points in-between existing plantation to collect feedstock from current farmers; (allows for immediate operations and basic economic development)

  • Development and Implementation of the settlers “HIVE” model, where new farmers are equipped trained and mentored to cultivate new plantations; (facilitates the extensive social/economic development)

  • Establishment of commercial plantations under direct control of Hende Wayela. (ensures the profits for the investors)

A rural agricultural feedstock development strategy has been formalised focussing on the development of the rural communities and resources. This strategy has subsequently been named the Hende Mozambique Project, which was approved by government.

Currently, the most challenging obstacle is finding and securing the growing demand for feedstock that the bio-diesel industry requires.

Insufficient infrastructure and unreliable systems hamper the production and collection of the feedstock (such as coconut copra) on the scale that the bio-diesel companies require.

Hende Wayela has chosen a model of basic economic development and broad based upliftment of current and aspiring farmers, so that the needed economic systems to produce enough feedstock will exist.
